The patron of Fara Filiorum Petri is Saint Anthony the Abbot, celebrated on 17 January; on the eve, 16 January, the famous Festa delle Farchie takes place, held since 1799.
The farchie are huge bundles of reeds, about 8 metres long and 80 centimetres across, tied by hand with red willow branches: built by the town's districts, they are burned in the square in front of the chapel of Saint Anthony. According to popular tale, the saint appeared to the French troops who in 1799 wanted to enter the town and turned the oaks surrounding it into flames, forcing them to flee.
