On 21 October Sant'Orsola Terme celebrates its patron Saint Ursula, after whom the town is named; the territory also preserves the Sass de Sant'Orsola.

This is a region that has given away almost all its powers: with the statute of 1972 its competences passed to the two autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano, and the Region itself was left as little more than a container. The territory was annexed to Italy on 10 October 1920, after the treaty of Saint-Germain, and since then two souls have lived side by side, the Trentino one and the South Tyrolean: 282 comuni where Italian, German and Ladin are spoken, and in a few valleys also Mòcheno and Cimbrian.
The common certainty is the Dolomites, World Heritage since 2009, which at sunset turn pink — the phenomenon they call enrosadira. In Bolzano lies Ötzi, the man of the Similaun, who lived more than five thousand years ago and was found in a glacier in 1991. For the rest: Christmas markets in winter, refuges and via ferratas in summer, apples and white wines all year. Few regions manage to be so orderly and so wild at once.
