The patron of Casalbordino is Saint Stephen, celebrated on the last Sunday of June in the Abbey of Santo Stefano in Rivomaris.
The town is closely tied to the apparition of the so-called Madonna dei Miracoli, which took place in 1576 before the farmer Alessandro Muzi. The pilgrimage and devotion soon spread beyond the town's borders throughout Abruzzo: already by the time of D'Annunzio, attendance at the shrine had reached considerable proportions. The town also holds the Shrine of the Madonna dei Miracoli and the Church of San Salvatore.
