On 22 October Casali del Manco celebrates its patron Saint John Paul II; the municipal territory, in the Sila range, includes Monte Pettinascura.
Casali del Manco has existed since 2017, when five municipalities of the Sila — Casole Bruzio, Pedace, Serra Pedace, Spezzano Piccolo and Trenta — were merged into one. Not everyone agreed: at Spezzano Piccolo the referendum of the twenty-sixth of March came out against by ten votes, 481 to 471, but the municipality was taken in all the same.
The name describes the structure: the casali were very old self-governing communities, fourteen of them until the nineteenth century, and each held its own public assemblies, the Università, with the minutes recorded by notaries. The coat of arms granted in 2020, chosen by the citizens out of three proposals, counts them all: a central flower with five petals for the five merged municipalities, and beneath it twelve small flowers for the other hamlets. Within these boundaries lies the highest peak of the Sila, Monte Botte Donato.
