Bivongi has as its patrons Maria SS. Mamma Nostra, celebrated on 5 February and in September (8 September, with the feast on the second Sunday of the month), and Saint John the Baptist, on 24 June; the Santuario is dedicated to Maria SS. Mamma Nostra.
The municipality of 1,398 inhabitants in the province of Reggio Calabria also holds the Orthodox Monastery of San Giovanni Theristis, and in August the Mercato della Badia brings food and wine products, music, visits to the old olive mills, exhibitions and street artists to the lanes of the centre.
