The patron of Marina di Gioiosa Ionica is Saint Nicholas of Bari, celebrated on the last Sunday of July in the church dedicated to him.
On 6 December, the blessing of the sea is held with the saint's statue. Throughout the year, other feasts follow one another: in May that of Maria SS. della Strada, in August that of the Madonna del Carmelo, on the first Sunday after 15 August, and in September that of the Madonna della Consolazione, on the second Sunday of the month. The town also holds the Greek-Roman theatre and the Torre Galea.
