Split between the Costa dei Gelsomini and a 194-meter-high hillside, Siderno is the demographic anchor of the Locride area with 16,879 residents. The municipality operates in two distinct halves: Siderno Marina handles modern beach tourism along the Ionian Sea, while the original settlement watches from the inland slopes.
Although locals largely relocated to the coast for everyday services, Siderno Superiore retains its architectural footprint. A walk through its narrow streets reveals the 17th-century Palazzo Falletti, the restored Spanish-era Palazzo De Mojà, and Palazzo Correale-Santacroce—identifiable by a curious sculpture of three human faces. Down below, the beachfront sits just three kilometers from Locri.
