The patron of Pontenure is Saint Peter the Apostle, celebrated on 29 June in the Church of San Pietro Apostolo.
On the second Sunday of September, the donkey festival is organized: the event originates from an episode that occurred in 1901, when during a popular festival a donkey was tied with a hook to a rope stretched to the other corner of the square. Since 2002, every August, the Concorto Film Festival is instead held in the park of Villa Raggio, an international short film showcase dedicated to the works of young debut directors. The town also holds the Castello di Paderna.
