The patron of Ostra Vetere is Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on 24 June with the Fiera di Giovanni Battista, a fair held in his honor.
On 17 May, the feast day of San Pasquale Baylon, the town draws many pilgrims with festivities that end with a fireworks display over the town. The town also holds the Church of Santa Maria di Piazza and the «Le Muracce» archaeological area.
