🎉 Patron saint festival

Saints Oronzo, Giusto and Fortunato

📍 Lecce · Lecce · Puglia

Lecce's main feast lasts three days, from 24 to 26 August. The statues of the three patrons are enthroned in the cathedral and carried in procession on the 24th.

Lecce has three patron saints and a single feast, the biggest of its year: Saints Oronzo, Giusto and Fortunato, celebrated from 24 to 26 August. Through the feast days the three statues stay enthroned in the cathedral, and on the 24th they come out in procession through the city.

Oronzo, by tradition, was the first bishop of Lecce and of the Salento, chosen by Saint Paul; 26 August is the day assigned to his martyrdom. Of Giusto, whom tradition also makes an apostle of Paul, almost nothing is known: his story is bound to Oronzo's.
