The patron of Sternatia is Saint George the Martyr, celebrated on 22 August.
The town, in the Grecìa Salentina, lives an August full of festivals: the Festa della Pizzica from the 4th to the 6th, a stop on the Notte della Taranta, and the Feast of Saint Roch on the 16th, before the patronal feast. During Lent come the 'Mpessima fairs, that of the Mules on the second Sunday and that of the Covered Crosses on the fifth. The town holds the Basilian crypt of San Sebastiano, a testament to the Greek-Byzantine rite, and a stone specchia.
