The patron saint of Ginosa is Holy Mary of the Rosary, celebrated on the first Sunday of October. In the coastal hamlet of Marina di Ginosa, Saint Anthony of Padua is celebrated instead, on 12 and 13 June.
On 7 and 8 October 2013, precisely during the days of the town's patronal feast, Ginosa was hit by a violent flood that caused four victims and destroyed the territory's two main roads. The town also holds the Norman-Swabian Castle and the rock-cut church of Santa Barbara, testimony to its rich past, and lies within the Terra delle Gravine Regional Nature Park.
