As tradition has it, on 24 June the statue of the patron Saint John the Baptist is carried in procession along the main streets of the town to the church of San Rocco, where Mass is celebrated; the saint's cult dates back to before the 18th century, when it gave the original name to one of the town's religious buildings.
The traditional folk costumes are practically identical to those of nearby Campo di Giove: for men a hat decorated with flowers, laces and feathers, a jacket-style bodice, short trousers and white stockings; for women a white kerchief folded in a triangle on the head, an apron over a long-sleeved bodice and a skirt with wide pleats and a coloured ribbon; on their feet both wear a piece of leather tied with cords. These clothes continue to be worn on special occasions.
