The patron of Bova is Saint Leo, co-patron of the archdiocese of Reggio Calabria-Bova, celebrated on 5 May; the Chiesa di San Leo and the Santuario di San Leo are dedicated to him.
On 15, 16 and 17 August the celebrations in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Assumption, Saint Leo and Saint Roch take place: the patronal feasts attract many faithful and many emigrants who return to Bova for the occasion in summer. The town is home to the Museo della lingua greco-calabra «Gerhard Rohlfs» (museum of the Greek-Calabrian language).
