The patron of Terranova Sappo Minulio is given as Saint Martin, with a feast on 3 May; on that same day the annual celebrations in honour of the Most Holy Crucifix are held, whose church and sanctuary stand in the town. On 26 July every year Saint Anne is celebrated.
On 3 May 1754, during the customary celebrations in honour of the Most Holy Crucifix, the local «Schola cantorum» sang for the first time, in the church of the Crucifix, a melody composed by Giuseppe Antonio Barba, at that time in Terranova as Maestro di Cappella (choirmaster).
