Dating back to the 1st century BC, the Oscan city of Atella laid the groundwork for modern-day Frattaminore. This area birthed the fabulae Atellanae, early comic farces that shaped Roman theater. Today, this municipality of 15,708 residents still remembers its feudal past, with locals referring to the neighborhood around the former count's palace as Fratta Piccola.
Located 13 kilometers north of Naples, the town holds a distinct spiritual identity. On July 30, 2025, it was officially designated a "Civitas Mariae" to honor its devotion to Maria SS. della Pietà.
