Finale Emilia celebrates the Blessed Virgin of Grace on 8 September.
On May 20, 2012, a major earthquake fundamentally altered the landscape of Finale Emilia. The seismic event severely damaged the historical core, leaving the local castle and cathedral in ruins, and destroying the Torre dei Modenesi, the landmark clock tower. The ongoing restoration of these structures defines much of the current townscape.
Acting as the easternmost municipality in the province of Modena, this community of 15,713 residents sits roughly 35 kilometers from both Modena and Bologna. While its architectural losses were profound, Finale Emilia remains a significant geographical crossroads in Emilia-Romagna, steadily navigating a complex physical recovery.
