In the little church of Sant'Andrea at Gris, raised in the fifteenth century, the walls were painted from top to bottom between 1523 and 1531: seventy-two scenes from the Old and the New Testament over some two hundred and thirty square metres. It is a Biblia pauperum, a Bible for those who could not read one; the work is credited to the Venetian Gaspare Negro with his son Arsenio and their workshop.

The comune keeps three more churches: San Pietro in the main village and San Giusto at Felettis, both of the eighteenth century, and San Marco at Cuccana, which shares a parish with Gris. Here, beside Italian, people speak Friulian in its central-eastern form, and the comune lies inside the area where that language is protected by law.
