The patrons of Canale Monterano are Saint Bartholomew the Apostle and Saint Calepodia, celebrated on 24 August.
The most important folk event for local residents is the Corsa del Bigonzo, or Palio delle Contrade, held every year at the end of August in their honour. The town also hosts, in late May, «Monterano: la rinascita di un feudo» (Monterano: the rebirth of a fiefdom), when the abandoned village of Monterano comes back to life with hundreds of costumed performers engaged in old games and crafts, and a living nativity scene between December and January. The territory holds the Monterano regional nature reserve and the Etruscan necropolises of Ara del Tufo and della Lega.
