On 12 March San Gregorio da Sassola celebrates the patronal feast of Saint Gregory the Great, with a procession bearing the sixteenth-century statue of the saint; the saint's name also appears in that of the municipality.
Other traditions include the feast of the Madonna della Cavata, in honour of an image of the Madonna held to be miraculous and found underground by farmers working in the fields, the Pasquella of 5 January, with costumed figures walking the streets collecting gifts, and the pagnottelle di Sant'Antonio, the traditional bread of flour, oil, aniseed and ricotta handed out at dawn on 17 January.
