Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle
📅 Every year, on 30 November
On 30 November Ceto celebrates its patron Saint Andrew the Apostle, to whom the town's church is dedicated.
A proverb goes round the Val Camonica that says two opposite things depending on the order of the names: «Hét e Nàder tücc bindù e làder. Nàder e Hét tücc bùna zét» — Ceto and Nadro are all layabouts and thieves; Nadro and Ceto are all good people. The comune, in fact, is made of three villages — Ceto, Nadro and Badetto — and it has changed its name four times in a century and a half: Ceto e Nadro from 1798, Ceto con Nadro from 1816, plain Ceto from 1859, and from 1927 to 1947 Ceto-Cerveno.
Above the three villages lies the part that really counts: the nature reserve of the rock engravings of Ceto, Cimbergo and Paspardo, one of the three sectors into which the engraved area of the Valcamonica is divided. A little north of Badetto, meanwhile, runs the forty-sixth parallel. The municipal coat of arms puts the rest together: the Pizzo Badile that towers over the village, the firs and the meadows, and a river for the streams that produce electricity here.
