Derovere

Province: Cremona · Region: Lombardy · Population: 310 · Postal code: 26040

Derovere has no coat of arms. It has never adopted one, nor a banner: almost every Italian comune has had its own granted by decree sooner or later; this one has not. The name used to be written apart, De' Rovere. In 1810 the French wiped the comune out and put it inside Cingia de' Botti; it was a comune again in 1816.

In 1868 the village grew: two whole comuni were added to it, Ca' de' Bonavogli and Casalorzo Geroldi. Then the countryside emptied, and in the last sixty years Derovere has lost about three quarters of its people: at the unification of Italy it had three hundred and forty-five on its own, and today it has little more than three hundred with the other two inside it.
