The fief of Correggioverde, today a hamlet of Dosolo, entered the Gonzaga estate through the marriage in 1322 of Anna Dovara and Filippino Gonzaga, and ended up falling to a female heir, Gigliola. From there began the pressure of her husband's relatives: on the twenty-first of July 1357 she was forced to cede all her goods to them, but in 1359 she appealed to the emperor Charles IV and the sentence gave them back. She won the second case too, before the imperial court of arbitration. Meanwhile Ugolino Gonzaga was being murdered by his own brothers Francesco and Ludovico, and she remained shut up and watched by her cousins: in October 1375 she donated everything to Francesco I Gonzaga, son of one of them and future sole lord of Mantua.

At Villastrada there is a nineteenth-century theatre with a columned porch, inaugurated in 1911: Delia Scala made her debut there, very young, as a dancer, and Gino Cervi acted there. From 1950 it was reduced to a cinema, then closed altogether, and it reopened restored in 2011, a hundred years later. Three thousand three hundred and eighty-five inhabitants in the province of Mantua, on the left bank of the Po; the name comes from the Latin doxolum, little rise.
