San Vito dei Normanni

Province: Brindisi · Region: Puglia · Population: 19,620 · Postal code: 72019

On January 29, 1864, this Apulian settlement officially altered its civic identity, dropping the historical name San Vito degli Schiavoni to become San Vito dei Normanni. Despite the formal adjustment, the town's roughly 19,600 residents—known as Sanvitesi—still affectionately refer to their home as *Santu Vitu* in the local dialect.

Located in the northern stretch of the Salento peninsula within the Brindisi province, the town sits a mere 9 kilometers inland from the Adriatic Sea. This geography provides a highly practical base for reaching the coastal waters while avoiding heavy seaside traffic.
