The protector saints of Maruggio are Saint John the Baptist and Saint Christopher, celebrated on 13 and 14 July with illuminations through the streets of the town.
On 21 November, instead, the Feast of the Madonna del Verde is held, dedicated to the sixteenth-century chapel of Santa Maria del Tempio, commonly known as the church of the Madonna del Verde, today annexed to the cemetery. The town also holds the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Torre Moline.
