The patron of Orotelli is San Giovanni Battista (Saint John the Baptist), celebrated on 29 August; the municipality holds the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista.
Together with Mamoiada and Ottana, Orotelli forms the Carnevale Barbaricino, with the traditional carnival masks, all three different from one another (in Orotelli they are Sos Thurpos): it begins on 16 January with the lighting of the fire of Sant'Antonio and lasts until Shrove Tuesday. The municipality also holds the Chiesa di San Pietro di Oddini, Nostra Signora di Sinne, the Casa Museo Salvatore Cambosu and the Nuraghe Aeddos.
