The patron saint of Villarosa is Saint James, celebrated on 10 August, with the church dedicated to him. The church of San Giacomo today holds the sacred image from the chapel of Saint Anne, an old place of worship built in 1676 in the Sant'Anna district, three kilometres south of the town, now reduced to a ruin made up of just three outer walls.
The feast of Saint Anne was once celebrated on the first Sunday of September precisely in the district of the same name, where, as the local historian Vincenzo De Simone wrote, «in the shadow of the ducal palace the people of Villarosa drown a year's sorrows in an hour of fleeting revelry»: a celebration that showed, according to the same source, «all the colour of a pagan bacchanal, with music and dances, feasting and libations». Villarosa also preserves the church of the Immaculate Conception, the Capuchin convent, and the Museo della memoria dedicated to the customs of central Sicily.
