Villa Bittner

📍 Bolzano, Trentino-South Tyrol · 52/100

Villa Bittner, also called Villa Degischer, is a historic residence in Bolzano, in South Tyrol, at the locality of Colle di Villa (in German Bauernkohlern).

What to see

The villa is built to the canons of the Heimatstil: the ground floor is masonry, while the upper floors are timber. It is recognised by its turrets, bay windows (erkers) and irregular roof.

It was erected in 1896 to a design by the architect Johann Bittner as a holiday house for his own family; Bittner himself is the author of the church of the Sacred Heart in the centre of Bolzano. The building has been protected since 1998.

Visiting

The villa is at Colle di Villa, in the comune of Bolzano; the sources consulted do not say whether it can be visited inside or how to get there, so visiting conditions and connections should be checked.

Our editors' tip

Colle di Villa (Bauernkohlern) is the locality above Bolzano where Bittner built his own holiday house: before setting out, check the connections and whether the villa can be seen up close.
