On 15 April 1452, in a farmhouse at Anchiano among the Montalbano olives, Leonardo was born: Vinci is the village that gave the genius his surname, and tells him in the Museo Leonardiano — among the world's most complete on his machines, working models from the Codex Atlanticus — split between the Conti Guidi castle and the Uzielli building.
The birth house is reached on foot along the "green road" between the rows. The village is tiny and true, with his baptism church and the hills Leonardo drew in his first dated landscape of 1473: still there, identical.
