The patron of Campo di Giove is Saint Eustace, whose cult dates back to the 12th century; his feast falls on 20 September, when the saint's statue is carried in procession through the streets of the village to the church dedicated to him.
On the evening of the following day the "ballo della pupa" is held, a puppet made of reeds, light wood and papier-mâché, animated by a person hidden inside, who dances to the sound of an accordion with a pinwheel of fireworks on its head: it is an ancient farming tradition tied to fertility rites for the land, which once ended with the burning of the empty puppet, its ashes scattered over the fields to bring a good harvest.
