Nunzio Sulprizio was born here in 1817 and died in Naples at nineteen, in 1836. As a boy he worked in the shop of his uncle the blacksmith, who beat him; he hurt an ankle, the wound went septic, and he went down to wash it at the Riparossa spring, from which the villagers drove him away for fear he would foul the water. Today that spring stands inside the apse of the sanctuary dedicated to him, finished in 1990.

The village itself moved. On 11 February 1934, after the earthquake of the year before, part of the rock spur slid away and the medieval settlement was almost wholly abandoned: the new one was built a short way off and named Pesco Littorio, a name that fell with the regime. Above remain the ruins of the Sansoneschi castle and the church of San Nicola with its frescoes.
