The patron saint of Mirandola is Saint Possidius, celebrated on 16 May.
The earthquake of 20 May 2012, followed by a new and violent aftershock on 29 May, severely damaged numerous religious buildings in the town, leaving churches, sacristies and bell towers unsafe. Since 1879, the «Al Barnardon» almanac has been published every year, written entirely in the Mirandola dialect: for more than one hundred and thirty years it has been a genuine record of the feasts, festivals and fairs of Mirandola and its surroundings. The town also holds the Castello dei Pico, the church of San Francesco and that of San Leonardo Limosino.
