The patron of Trieste is Saint Justus and his day falls on 3 November. His name is not only in the calendar: it belongs to the hill above the harbour, to the cathedral that crowns it and to the castle beside it.
It is an autumn feast, when the bora begins to make itself felt and the city has returned to its own scale.
