Feast of Saint Joseph
📅 Every year, on 19 March
On 19 March Treppo Grande celebrates its patron Saint Joseph; the Castello di Zegliacco stands in its territory.
The name speaks of a road: it is derived from the Latin trep, a path, or from trivius, a crossroads. The Roman road that climbed from Concordia towards Noricum ran through here, and at Vendoglio a milestone of Augustus was found, now in the civic museums of Udine. The arms tell the same thing in pictures: a paved road, ears of wheat for the fields, a cow for the pastures.
Of the old villages of Carvacco and Zeglianutto only two small churches are left. The comune appears in a document of 1213; in 1349 it passed under the jurisdiction of Artegna and later under that of Gemona. In 1976 the earthquake brought much of it down.
