Treppo Ligosullo has existed since the first of February 2018, when Treppo Carnico and Ligosullo merged into a single municipality. The referendum, the previous autumn, had gone two opposite ways: in Treppo Carnico the yes won with almost sixty-eight per cent, in Ligosullo the no won with fifty-three, and more people turned out to vote in Ligosullo than in Treppo. The merger went ahead all the same, and the new coat of arms took in the two trees that each of the old ones carried.
In the hamlets — Zenodis, Siaio, Gleriis, Tausia, Murzalis — there are still many stone houses going back to the fifteenth century. At Murzalis there is the chapel of the emigrants, and at Ligosullo a stone remembers the Friulians scattered around the world: people left these valleys, and the place wanted it written in stone. At Tausia, on the other hand, Radio Tausia was founded in 2014, and in 2021 it was voted the best web radio in Italy: a few hundred people in the Pontaiba valley, and a station heard everywhere.
