The frazione of Clauiano is a village of stone: the houses are made of piéris e clàps, stones and pebbles, with portals framed in white stone, the front on the street and the courtyard inside. The oldest, casa Gardellini, has a façade painted white and red in lozenges. The name would come from a Roman Claudius, and the village appears in a parchment of the eleventh century.
In 1420 all this passed to Venice. The comune keeps six churches scattered between the main village and the hamlets — San Teodoro, San Michele, San Marco, San Bartolomeo at Melarolo, Santa Caterina at Merlana and San Giorgio at Clauiano — and at Clauiano there is also villa Manin Guerresco, an eighteenth-century house. The speech here is central-eastern Friulian.
