The patron saints of Chiari are Saints Faustinus and Jovita, celebrated on 15 February.
The two, probably brothers, were young noblemen from Brescia who lived in the 2nd century AD and pursued a military career, becoming knights, before being converted to Christianity by Bishop Apollonius and being martyred between 120 and 134, for refusing to sacrifice to the gods. As well as being patrons of Chiari, they are patrons of the town and diocese of Brescia, as well as of the towns of Sarezzo and Darfo Boario Terme; Saint Faustinus, in particular, is traditionally regarded as the patron of single people. The Palio delle Quadre of Chiari is held in September and lasts a week. The town also holds the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore and the City Museum.
