Saint Victor, patron of the land of the Trivulzio Belgiojoso Castle
📅 Every year, on 6 May
Locate di Triulzi celebrates Saint Victor on 6 May, in the church dedicated to him.
The name comes from Celtic and means land on the water: the first settlements date from 600 BC, and the town still holds the lowest point of the Metropolitan City of Milan, in the Valle delle Volpi cut by the Lambro Meridionale. There were originally two centres, Locate San Vittore and Locate Sant'Alessandro. The rest of the name is from 1862: Triulzi was the popular way of saying Trivulzio, the family that owned much of the land here from the fourteenth century and had it drained.
The last notable resident of the fourteenth-century castle was Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso, who gave the town nursery schools, schools and a park; her arms gave the municipal flag its mermaid filing a gold ring and the motto NE TE SMAY, while the shield carries the crowned three-faced head of the Trivulzio. On the edge of the Lambro valley, towards Pieve Emanuele, the sanctuary of Santa Maria della Fontana stacks three churches around a spring: the water was credited with miracles, though none was ever recorded.
