Feast of Saint Peter the Apostle
📅 Every year, on 18 January
On 18 January Loculi celebrates its patron Saint Peter the Apostle, to whom the town's church is dedicated; the town also hosts "Sa domo de sas artes e de sos mestieris".
From 1928 to 1946 Loculi did not exist: it had been put together with Galtellì, Irgoli and Onifai into a single comune, called Irgoli di Galtellì, that is, with the names of two of the four. In 1946 they became four again, with the old boundaries. And the year before the merger, in 1927, the village had passed from the province of Sassari to that of Nuoro.
In the territory lay the barony of Lopè, which held four stretches of land together, and the baron was the bishop of Galtellì. Above the village, on the summit of the Preda Longa mountain, stands a nuraghe at six hundred and fifty-six metres; lower down, at Sos Mojos, there are a giants' tomb and some domus de janas. The village itself lies at twenty-six metres above the sea, in the plain of the Cedrino.
