The patron of Villaputzu is Saint George the Martyr, celebrated on 15 May with a feast and procession.
The town's calendar of feasts is rich: in January, Saint Anthony the Abbot is celebrated (on the 17th), the Sunday before Ash Wednesday brings the Carnevale Sarrabese, in August the launeddas festival (on the 7th) and the feast of the Madonna del mare (on the 16th), and in October the feast of Saint Victoria, on the second Sunday of the month. The town also holds the Castello di Gibas.
