The patron of Merì is Our Lady of the Annunciation, celebrated on 25 March, in the church dedicated to her, built from 1596 onward. This church remains today the town's only parish, administered by the vicariate of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto «San Sebastiano», in the archdiocese of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela.
The town also preserves the church of San Giuseppe, as well as the local Evangelical Christian Church.
