Packing 19,819 residents into a compact area of just 3.8 square kilometres, Villabate is officially the most densely populated municipality in Sicily. The town occupies the eastern stretch of the Conca d'Oro plain.
Located eight kilometres southeast of Palermo, it functions as a direct urban extension of the regional capital. The street layout merges completely with Palermo to form a single conurbation, sharing immediate borders with both Ficarazzi and Misilmeri.
