Prior to 1880, this Tyrrhenian coastal municipality was officially known as Solunto. Renamed Santa Flavia, the town of 10,751 residents now operates the second-largest fishing fleet in Sicily. It sits just 17 kilometers east of Palermo, effectively merging into a single urban area with neighboring Bagheria.
