Feast of Saints Fabian and Sebastian
📅 Every year, on 20 January
On 20 January Fiavè celebrates its patrons Saints Fabian and Sebastian; the territory preserves Castel Campo and a pile-dwelling area.
The name comes from the Latin word for the little stick that props up bean plants: a place of bean-poles. Where the lake Carera used to be there is now a peat bog, and in it stand the piles of a prehistoric village, on the UNESCO list since 2011 together with the other pile-dwelling sites of the Alps. On the arms there are a cup found in the digs and a water lily of the bog.
The life of the community was regulated by the carte di Regola: the one for Fiavé is of 1458, and they were replaced by the municipal statutes only in 1996. At the end of the nineteenth century the curate here was don Lorenzo Guetti, the father of cooperation in Trentino: the second rural bank of Trentino was born at Fiavé, and a cooperative store of which he was the first president.
