In 1894 the museum of Innsbruck asked the comune what its coat of arms was, and the comune answered that it was the castle above the village, in its own natural colours, with the ivy that climbs the walls; and that there was no record of who had granted it. The arms later became a golden stag on red, taken from the thirteenth-century seal of Alberto di Stenico: the official who proposed it noted that the last stag in Trentino had been killed in 1811, and that a man of San Lorenzo still kept its antlers.

In the nineteenth century the villages of the comune burned more than once, and the fire of 1914 put an end to the thatched roofs. North of the houses stands the Arca di Fraporte, a natural bridge in the rock some fifty metres across.
