In 1317 Treviso decided to cut down the woods around Preganziol: they were sheltering brigands. The following year another document mentions the loviere, the traps used to catch wolves. The name of the village may say the same thing: prà and gazio, a meadow protected by a wood.
In 1350 the plague emptied the place, and Treviso had to offer tax relief to anyone who came to repopulate it. Not much of the wood is left: along the Terraglio, the road to Venice, the Venetian villas line up — the Albrizzi-Franchetti, the Querini-Biadene known as la Colombina, the Palazzi-Valier. The comune in its present shape dates from 1816; there are 16,772 residents.
