The patroness of Tossicia is Saint Symphorosa (Santa Sinforosa), celebrated on 18 July.
Tossicia is mentioned by Fedele Romani in his book «Colledara», but it is in more recent times that it becomes the setting of Donatella Di Pietrantonio's debut novel, «Mia madre è un fiume» (My mother is a river), a candidate for the 2011 Premio Strega. The municipality also holds the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate, the Chiesa di Sant'Emidio, the Chiesa di Sant'Andrea and the Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo.
