Feast of Saint Michael
📅 Every year, on 29 September
On 29 September Gaby celebrates Saint Michael in the parish church dedicated to him; the municipality also preserves the Vourry sanctuary.
On a roof beam of the Palatz fortified house an inscription in German records who commissioned it and who built it, in 1632: Hans Driszquer and the master builder Hans Goyet. From that surname, in its French form, comes the Trentaz still borne in Gaby, which goes back to the German Dreiziger, the thirtieth.
The village first grew at Lihrla, where the ruins survive of a fortified house used as a plague hospital during the epidemic of 1630. Above the main settlement opens the Niel valley, with its 28-metre waterfall: trade towards Vercelli and Biella passed this way, over the cols that close in the land of the 487 residents.
