The patron saint of Fardella is Saint Anthony of Padua, celebrated on 13 June in the town's mother church, built in 1703 and dedicated to him.
The small town in Basilicata also preserves the chapel of Sant'Onofrio, whose inscription above the entrance door records that Joannes de Jura had it built in 1900. On the origin of the town's name, the most accepted theory traces it to Maria Fardella, princess and wife of the feudal lord of nearby Chiaromonte, Luigi Sanseverino, and mother of the Arcadian poet Aurora Sanseverino.
