In February and in May Teana, a municipality of 645 inhabitants in the province of Potenza, celebrates its patron San Biagio.
The town is called this, so the legend goes, after Theano, the wife of Pythagoras, who spent her summers here; people in the surrounding villages still call it La Tigana. What is certain is that it existed in Lombard times, and of the castle the Lombards built there are ruins.
Teana is also the town of Marino di Teana, one of the great metal sculptors of the twentieth century, born here. His works stand around the village in the open: the Nave siderale in Carrara marble inside Palazzo Lecce, Alba near the house where he was born, and in front of the town hall the bronze Federico II on horseback and the steel Omaggio a Lao-Tse. There are 645 residents.
